Here's the latest on our DIY kitchen remodel!! I've wanted an apron front farm sink for YEARS! The time has finally come for me!! I found an amazing deal on Wayfair.com on a HUGE fireclay single bowel farm sink and I had to get it!
Now when we moved in my least favorite thing about our house was the gross pink tile countertops! If you like that style, more power to ya, but grout on the counter just grosses me out! So we finally got around to the counters once we had the motivation of the gorgeous new sink!

We started by removing the old nasty sink, then cut the tile at the front of the counter with a dry diamond blade on our hand grinder. Then we measured and cut the cabinets to make room or the beast!

Our cabinets on the inside are 34" and the sink is 33" so I knew it would be a perfect snug fit! We then made a support out of 2x4s to hold the weight of the undermount sink. Slid it into place and we were very happy our measuring was right!
Next we had to add a 2x6 behind the sink to make a counter top area for the faucet.

This worked well for us because I planned ahead and used a special compound to fill in the grout lines and smooth out the counters. So technically the tile is still there, but it's covered and out of site, out of mind! I used that same compound to build up behind the sink as well as on the sides of tile where we had cut the new hole for the sink.

After the compound was dry, I painted and sealed them! They are a beautiful grey and resemble concrete, we just love them!!

The first pic is the day we moved in...
