So my cabinets go all the way to the ceiling. It's a nice look, but I love having decor above the kitchen cabinets!! Since I'm not about to spend buco bucks on new cabinets for a silly reason, my solution is this... I was looking at my kitchen window the other day thinking about putting molding around it like my other windows in the house, but there is a tile backsplash and I didn't think it was going to look that great and BAM!! It hit me to add a decorative shelf to match the cabinets and it will give me the space I longed for to add DECOR!!! Hope you like it! I think it looks pretty dang cute myself :)

~ Update ~ I put the crown molding up, finished the cabinet color we are going with, and changed the lighting!

So painting the kitchen cabinets has been a work in progress. You realize how many cabinets you have once you start painting them! I chose ASCP in duck egg blue and used clear wax on them. Then I used a half dark and half clear wax mixture to give it a slight aged look. After adding the finishing hardware touch, I'm pretty happy with the result. I've only done the section pictured, so over the next week or so hopefully I will get more done and update the pics!

Here's the before/after of my guest bath! We replaced toilet, sink, faucet, and light fixture. I also added trim around the mirror, took out the dated medicine cabinet and made a pretty recessed shelf, painted, added door and window molding, removed the tile base and added pretty base molding, and lastly added cute decor! Hope you all like it as much as I do :)

For sale a solid wood dining table with 1 leaf and 6 chairs. The chairs are all sturdy and well made as well as the table. This is not one of the newer cheep sets, it is about 20 years old and has been treated with love. 42" round table and leaf adds 18" and is 29" high with seat height of 18".

This set has SOLD! Thanks!

For sale is a beautiful 1880 victorian Eastlake parlor lamp table. It is somewhat delicate due to age, but still very lovely and in nice shape. The casters are in great shape and are original. It has a few age spots on top, see pics. This table is quite unique, there are some kind of like it, but this one has more detail. If it had a marble top, they go for over $600.

Asking ~ $145

Here's some updates on the girls bed rooms. It's taken a little bit to deal shop and it's great to have family lovingly provide some furniture, but they are pretty much done :)

Saturday, May 24, 2014

We painted the front door and it makes a big difference :)

Tuesday, May 13, 2014

Baseboards are mostly done!! I still have  a ton more cutting to do for the rest of the wainescotting, but that's ok because I have loved every tiring, over worked day of this process :)

Monday, May 12, 2014

I was cutting chair rail and baseboard all day! I have a couple pics of the girls rooms, they are turning out cute :)

We've been busy packing and moving things from the rental to the new place, so not as many big reveals! We did put in new kitchen and sink faucets as well as a new duel flush toilet and we love it!
This week I will work on as much moldings and painting as possible :)

Tuesday, May 6, 2014

I wasn't able to do as much as I would have liked today because of the flooring install, but take a look at how the door molding is coming along :)

Monday, May 5, 2014

We are adding craftsman style moldings to the windows and doors! I am totally in love with this look :)

So we've been painting for over 9 hours today! Lots of work but it's starting to look snazzy!

Friday, May 2, 2014

Ok here's the first post of some before and during pics, no after pics just yet. I sanded and smooth textured the lower portion of the walls to prep for wainescotting! This is a cheaper way to get that look, but plan on setting aside a good chunk of time and patience :)

I used an electric hand sander to get the high points of the wall texture off and then used a joint compound to fill in the lower areas to make that beautiful smooth look! Here it is so far and feel free to post any questions you may have :)
